Initiatives and Materials to Support Refugees and People who Seek Asylum
With the increasing influx of refugees/people who seek asylum (RAAS), we SIETARians can use our expertise to address this situation, fostering intercultural understanding and competencies of those working with and supporting RAAS, in whatever capacity or organisation, so that their work may be more effective. Two local SIETAR’s have started such initiatives so far (see below).
If you wish to get involved/support this initiative, have a look at the Call to Action page.

The Ukrainian culture guide for Hosts and Refugees
Members of the RAAS committee at SIETAR UK have created a free practical guide for Ukrainians in the UK and UK Hosts. Feel free to share it in any of your networks.
Inclusive Intercultural Communication Training Kit for Initial Reception of Migrants (IncluKIT)
IncluKIT is available free of charge and can be downloaded from the dedicated website. The training materials can be used as the trainers and volunteers see fit, subject to the terms outlined in the Creative Commons licence and professional and ethical standards.
IncluKIT is a training tool aimed at the whole spectrum of volunteers and professionals involved in the initial reception of newly arrived migrants, including the people who seek asylum and refugees in European countries. As a result of a partnership between academics from six universities of the FORTHEM alliance and practitioners from SIETAR Europa, SIETAR Switzerland, SIETAR UK, the SIETAR SIG Migration and diversophy®, it focuses on the analysis of mismatched expectations and misunderstandings during the migrants’ transitional phase and the ways to overcome these issues.
