Call for Translators 1
(posted 27.01.2023)
The SIG Migration group looks to roll out existing training materials developed by RAAS and SIETAR Switzerland across national borders after a round of appropriate Train-the-Trainer sessions.
To support locals engaged in working with refugees and migrants in their own country, trainings will need to be delivered in the local languages.
SIG Migration is looking for volunteers to assist in translating existing materials in French and German to start with.
If you are interested and have time to dedicate to this important task, please contact us at: SIG_migration@sietareu.org
Please note that recognition but no remuneration will be provided for this activity.

Members of the RAAS committee at SIETAR UK have created a free practical guide for Ukrainians in the UK and UK Hosts. Feel free to share it in any of your networks.
This guide can be easily adapted to other cultural contexts and several SIETARians have volunteered to do so for a Spanish, German, and Polish context.
If you are interested to adapt this guide to your local sociocultural context, please get in touch with the project lead Caroline Lowish (globalculturelens@gmail.com) or via email to the RAAS committee: raas@sietar.co.uk
When adapting the guide to another sociocultural contexts, please consider three points:
- Ensure that your cultural insights are always supported by a source that is referenced in the guide.
- Collaborate with a local Ukrainian charity or organisation for them to read, make comments on and approve the guide. Edit the guide in response to the feedback.
- Before your adapted guide can be published or shared, the RAAS committee at SIETAR UK remains its right to be acknowledged as the original source of the guide – that is, please email your adapted guidebook in English to the RAAS committee for review.
- Please acknowledge the authors from the original guidebook developed by the SIETAR UK RAAS Committee.
Note, we can upload your adapted guidebook here as part of the SIG Migration website to make it available for anyone as a pdf download.
Call for Local SIETARians to start their own RAAS project
(posted 27.01.2023)
To support any local RAAS initiatives, the SUK RAAS committee and SIETAR Switzerland are happy to share their expertise, experience and materials.
Specifically:
- There have to be at least 2 dedicated SIETArians interested in creating a local initiative. They are and remain SIETAR members for the period of this work. Their local SIETAR president is informed and supports the initiative (details tbc).
- Interested SIETARians can contact the RAAS committee and/or SIETAR Switzerland to have a ‘train the trainer’ session set up for them. In these sessions, we provide how to use the existing materials (Handbooks, PP slides, case studies).
- When the above outlined requirements are fulfilled, materials (e.g., handbook and pp slides) will be shared with the local SIETAR board/president and/or the local SIETARians who wish to create a local initiative. That team is then encouraged to localize the content and exercises to make it more meaningful for them. Any exercises that originated from the RAAS UK/Swiss projects need to be referenced as follows:”Adopted from RAAS project 2023 SIETAR UK”/ “Adopted from RAAS project 2023 SIETAR Switzerland”
Please note, materials cannot be used for individual commercial purposes and copyright lies with SIETAR UK/SIETAR Switzerland and the respective authors.
If you are interested in creating your own initiative, just email:
